Back when I was a wee lad, my mother bought me a children's record. One side had a narration of "The Little Red Hen", and the other "The Tortoise and the Hare". One of my favourite lines, spoken by the Tortoise on the B side of that record, follows me even now: "I may be slow, but I'm sure." And so it goes with my ongoing upgrade from Slackware 14.0 to Slackware 14.2.

So, I'm reading a Usenet newsgroup and see this post talking about how to view the Raspberry Pi desktop on another machine. The post recommended downloading and installing yet another application to the Pi, and to the system that would view the Pi desktop. I guess that's the answer for some, but it's not the answer for me.
The "Network Filesystem" (NFS) is not difficult to set up. Here's a micro-howto that I use as a guide for my NFS setup.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought myself a Pogoplug (V2, gray) to try out. The PogoPlug comes with an embedded linux system, and is set up to externalize (through my.pogoplug.com) any USB storage device you connect to it. I wasn't as much interested in the services of my.pogoplug.com as I was in using the device as a general-purpose linux system.
