Updated Linux Distributions

Ezarcher is a set of Arch-based live Linux distribution with a number of popular desktops, including Cinnamon, GNOME, KDE Plasma, LXQt, MATE and Xfce. All desktop environments are provided in their default upstream state, without any customisations. The distribution can be installed to a hard disk using either the text-mode "archinstall" method or the graphical Calamares system installer. Unlike Arch Linux which generally deploys the latest stable kernel, Ezarcher runs exclusively on the long-term supported variant of the Linux kernel. Besides the distribution, the project also offers build templates to guide users to customise and re-build their own live medium with one of the desktop environments on offer.

FreeBSD is a UNIX-like operating system for the i386, amd64, IA-64, arm, MIPS, powerpc, ppc64, PC-98 and UltraSPARC platforms based on U.C. Berkeley's "4.4BSD-Lite" release, with some "4.4BSD-Lite2" enhancements. It is also based indirectly on William Jolitz's port of U.C. Berkeley's "Net/2" to the i386, known as "386BSD", though very little of the 386BSD code remains. FreeBSD is used by companies, Internet Service Providers, researchers, computer professionals, students and home users all over the world in their work, education and recreation. FreeBSD comes with over 20,000 packages (pre-compiled software that is bundled for easy installation), covering a wide range of areas: from server software, databases and web servers, to desktop software, games, web browsers and business software - all free and easy to install.

Bluestar Linux is a GNU/Linux distribution that is based on Arch Linux. The Bluestar distribution features up to date packages, a full range of desktop and multimedia software in the default installation and a live desktop DVD.

AUSTRUMI (Austrum Latvijas Linukss) is a bootable live Linux distribution based on Slackware Linux. It requires limited system resources and can run on any Intel-compatible system with a CD-ROM installed. The entire operating system and all of the applications run from RAM, making AUSTRUMI a fast system and allowing the boot medium to be removed after the operating system starts.

HackerOS is a live Linux distribution based on Debian's "Testing" branch and designed for regular users, gamers and cybersecurity enthusiasts. Some of its features include an optimised XanMod Linux kernel for faster boot times and reduced resource usage, out-of-the-box support for NVIDIA graphics cards, and a collection of cybersecurity tools, such as enhanced firewalls and intrusion detection software. The distribution uses the KDE Plasma desktop.

RengeOS is an Arch-based Linux distribution focused on performance and maintainability. Its features include built-in recovery mode, support for the bcachefs filesystem, custom-built Linux kernel with various performance-enhancing patches, and LZ4 data compression algorithm optimized for fast compression and decompression. The distribution's default desktop user interface is niri, a scrollable tiling Wayland compositor.

Besgnulinux is a lightweight, desktop Linux distribution based on Debian's "stable" branch. Using the JWM window manager, it is designed to be fast, lightweight and easy to use, suitable for older and low-specification computers. Besgnulinux comes with the Calamares system installer, the Brave web browser, and over 40 custom-built tools to control the systems settings as well as the desktop's look-and-feel.

TUXEDO OS is an Ubuntu-based distribution developed in Germany by TUXEDO Computers GmbH, designed and optimised for the company's own range of Linux-friendly personal computers and notebooks. The distribution uses KDE Plasma as the preferred desktop. Some of the differences between Ubuntu and TUXEDO OS include custom boot menu, the TUXEDO Control Centre, Calamares installer, availability of the Lutris open gaming platform, preference for the PipeWire audio daemon (over PulseAudio), removal of Ubuntu's snap daemon and snap packages, and various other tweaks and enhancements.

NetBSD is a free, secure, and highly portable UNIX-like Open Source operating system available for many platforms, from 64-bit AlphaServers and desktop systems to handheld and embedded devices. Its clean design and advanced features make it excellent in both production and research environments, and it is user-supported with complete source. KDE neon is a Ubuntu-based Linux distribution and live DVD featuring the latest KDE Plasma desktop and other KDE community software. Besides the installable DVD image, the project provides a rapidly-evolving software repository with all the latest KDE software. Two editions of the product are available - a "User" edition, designed for those interested in checking out the latest KDE software as it gets released, and a "Developer's" edition, created as a platform for testing cutting-edge KDE applications.

SmartOS is an open-source UNIX-like operating system based on illumos, a community fork of OpenSolaris. It features four technologies - ZFS (a combined file system and logical volume manager), DTrace (a dynamic tracing framework for troubleshooting kernel and application problems), Zones (a lightweight virtualisation solution), KVM and bhyve (two full virtualisation solutions for running a variety of guest operating systems, including Linux, Windows, BSD and Plan9). SmartOS is designed to be particularly suitable for building clouds and generating appliances.

Uncom OS is Russian commercial Linux distribution based on Ubuntu's long-term support branch and localised into Russian. It is developed by Advilabs-Rus LLC. Some of the distribution's more interesting features include a custom application store, out-of-the-box support for Flatpak packages, a Windows-style dock panel, extended support for VPN protocols, a custom application for restoring system integrity, and use of Bottles to run Windows applications. Besides commercial "Home", "Business" and "Education" editions of Uncom OS, the company also offers a freely downloadable trial variant for testing purposes.

Expirion Linux is a Devuan-based desktop distribution which offers LXQt and Xfce desktop editions. The project provides separate releases built from the latest "stable" and "testing" branches of Devuan, with runit and SysV as init system options. Expirion ships with a more recent kernel than Devuan does and it also adds some user-friendly touches, custom themes and wallpapers, as well as productivity applications, such as LibreOffice, Chromium, Firefox, Thunderbird, Audacity, Brasero and VLC.

T2 Linux SDE is an independently-developed open-source system development environment (or distribution build kit). It enables the creation of custom distributions with bleeding-edge technology. Currently, the Linux kernel is used, but the project plans an expansion to Hurd, OpenDarwin and OpenBSD kernels too. T2 started as a community driven fork from the ROCK Linux Project with the aim to create a decentralised development and a clean framework for spin-off projects and customised distributions.

PrismLinux is a minimalist distribution based on Arch Linux. The live image boots into the River Wayland compositor and a custom system installer which provides several popular desktop options available for installation, including KDE Plasma, GNOME, COSMIC and Cinnamon, as well as a customized Niri Wayland compositor. The distribution uses the long-term supported (LTS) Linux kernel compiled with kernel parameters optimised for speed and it also includes a pre-configured TLP utility for extending battery life.

PakOS is a Debian-based, desktop Linux distribution. The project aims to supply software and tools that will be useful for the people of Pakistan, though the distribution runs well in other regions and includes multi-language support. The project ships with LXQt as the default desktop and pre-installs many desktop applications and security tools.

ML4W OS is an Arch Linux-based distribution featuring a heavily customised Hyprland tiling compositor. The project specialises primarily in creating advanced configuration for Hyprland, so called "dotfiles", which are available for installation on several other Arch-based distributions, as well as Fedora and openSUSE. However, the live ML4W OS ISO image is a standalone, full-featured Linux distribution with all Hyprland configuration files, applications, icons, themes and wallpapers included. It can be installed to a hard disk using a custom text-mode system installer. The project also provides extensive documentation about setting up and configuring Hyprland.

RELIANOID is a Debian-based Linux distribution for load balancing. The project offers a specialist operating system for testing, development and quality assurance environments. Relianoid is available in Community (free of cost) and Enterprise editions.

Aeon is an immutable desktop Linux distribution based on openSUSE. It is a relatively small, low-maintenance system with automated daily updates, thus recommended for Linux beginners or "lazy developers". Some of the distribution's other features include a custom system installer called Transactional Installation Kit (TIK), a pre-configured GNOME desktop, out-of-the-box support for Flatpak packages, Distrobox configured to launch Tumbleweed containers, and automatic rollbacks to its last working state.
