Updated Linux Distributions

StormOS is a desktop-oriented Linux distribution based on Arch Linux. The project's goal is to build an operating system which is easy-to-install, beginner-friendly and usable out of the box in order to attract new users over to the world of Arch Linux.

Spaced Linux is a desktop Linux distribution based on Devuan's "Unstable" branch and featuring the MATE desktop environment on top of the Compiz compositing window manager. Like its parent, it uses the SysV init system. The distribution boots into a barebones live environment which offers the possibility to install Spaced Linux to a hard disk using the Calamares system installer. Once installed, a Welcome screen provides single-click options to extend the distribution by installing a collection of suggested applications (for web, office and multimedia use), adding SpacedBazaar (for Flatpak applications) or installing the NVIDIA graphics drivers. Spaced Linux intends to be modular, transparent and free of systemd, accessible to both beginners and advanced Linux users.

Q4OS is a Debian-based desktop Linux distribution offering a choice of a classic-style user interface (Trinity) and a modern desktop environment (KDE Plasma). The project also develops various utilities, such as Desktop Profiler and Software Center, as well as installers for third-party applications.

MocaccinoOS is an independently-developed Linux distribution that has its origins in source-based Gentoo Linux and Sabayon Linux. It uses a custom-built package manager called "Luet", which acts as a front-end for container-based software. The distribution's main features are minimalism and small footprint, ease of use, native vanilla Linux kernels, and support for most important cloud technologies. MocaccinoOS is offered in several variants, including live images with GNOME, KDE Plasma, MATE and Xfce desktops, as well as command-line-only "Minimal Desktop" edition.

Security Onion is a specialist, security-oriented Linux distribution based on Oracle Linux. It is a free and open platform for threat hunting, enterprise security monitoring and log management. It includes custom interfaces for alerting, dashboards, hunting, PCAP, detections and case management. It also includes other tools, such as osquery (a tool for exploring and monitoring operating system data with SQL queries), CyberChef (a web application for encryption, encoding, compression and data analysis), Elasticsearch (a data search engine), Logstash (a data collection and processing engine), Kibana (a data visualization plugin for Elasticsearch), Suricata (an intrusion detection and prevention system) and Zeek (a software network analysis framework).

4MLinux is a miniature Linux distribution focusing on four capabilities: maintenance (as a system rescue live CD), multimedia (for playing video DVDs and other multimedia files), miniserver (using the inetd daemon), and mystery (providing several small Linux games). The distribution includes support for booting on UEFI-enabled machines.

Berserk Arch is an Arch Linux-based, rolling-release distribution designed primarily for power users, security researchers and developers. It boots into a command-line interface with an option to start a text-mode installation wizard which offers a choice of desktop environments (GNOME, KDE Plasma, Xfce), window managers (dwm, i3, Openbox) and Wayland compositors (Hyprland). The distribution offers a modular environment with pre-configured desktop profiles, secure package infrastructure and curated toolsets.

Slimbook OS is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution customised for the Slimbook line of Linux computers assembled in Spain. It offers a choice of GNOME or KDE Plasma desktops on a single ISO image which also includes some custom extensions and utilities. The distribution provides its own repositories for some software, prioritising DEB and Flatpak packages over Ubuntu's snap options. Some of the other interesting features of Slimbook OS include touchpad gestures (enabled by default), Slimbook service notifications, window tiling, the Terminator terminal emulator, a Ulauncher application for fast searching, and a day/night mode switcher.

LinuxConsole is an independently developed Linux live CD with different editions designed for desktops, servers, gaming consoles, and old computers. Its primary characteristics are easy installation, extensive choice of software in the form of modules, and excellent hardware detection.

openKylin is a Chinese desktop Linux distribution which runs the Kylin and UKUI desktop environments. Both Wayland and X11 sessions are available out of the box. The project is a member of the Debian family and can use APT package management tools. It also features a custom package format which is combined with a software centre. openKylin is also a proving ground for custom utilities which assist the user in managing the operating system.

KibaOS is a minimalist and lightweight desktop Linux distribution and live image based on Arch Linux and featuring a customised Budgie desktop. In its default state it contains a very limited set of applications. The distribution can be installed to a hard disk using the Calamares system installer. The goal of KibaOS is to provide a clean, modern and visually consistent out-of-the-box experience without requiring any post-install configuration.

Shadowfetch Linux is a desktop Linux distribution based on Debian's "Testing" branch and featuring a customised KDE Plasma desktop. The distribution intends to be a "creative workstation", with several software applications for creative work installed by default. Shadowfetch Linux also includes local artificial intelligence tools and various privacy-enhancing features, such as UFW firewall, MAC-address randomization and hardened sysctl attributes.

Margine OS is desktop Linux distribution derived from Fedora Silverblue and Bluefin. It comes with an immutable filesystem, atomic updates, CachyOS Linux kernel optimised for performance, GNOME desktop with automatic tiling of open windows and Hyprland-style key bindings, and a complete media stack, including proprietary codecs, hardware video acceleration, and Digital Rights Management (DRM) enabled in the distribution's default web browser. Margine OS also offers built-in artificial intelligence features with offline Large Language Models (LLM), as well as extensive online and offline documentation.

Soplos Linux is a set of desktop-oriented Linux distributions based on Debian's "Testing" branch featuring several popular desktop environments. It offers rolling updates, up-to-date software, a relatively lightweight and customisable desktop, compatibility with older hardware, and various speed and performance optimisation features. The distribution ships with a number of custom applications, such as Soplos Theme Manager, Soplos Plymouth Manager, Soplos Docklike (for adding and removing applications in the dock) and Soplos GRUB Editor.

Calculate Linux is a Gentoo-based family of three distinguished distributions. Calculate Directory Server (CDS) is a solution that supports Windows and Linux clients via LDAP + SAMBA, providing proxy, mail and Jabbers servers with streamlined user management. Calculate Linux Desktop (CLD) is a workstation and client distribution (with a choice of Cinnamon, KDE Plasma, LXQt, MATE or Xfce desktops) that includes a wizard to configure a connection to Calculate Directory Server. Calculate Linux Scratch (CLS) is a live CD with a build framework for creating a custom distribution.

AbeirOS is a Void-based Linux distribution featuring a vanilla KDE Plasma desktop. Its main feature is the use of the musl C library (instead of GNU's glibc library used by most Linux distributions), considered a lightweight and efficient alternative to glibc but with some compatibility challenges, more suitable for containers and embedded systems. Other than that, AbeirOS is a standard Void with the XBPS package manager and runit init system.

AfagOS, a sister project of AgarimOS, is a Void-based Linux distribution featuring a vanilla KDE Plasma desktop. Like all distributions based on Void, it uses the XBPS package manager with the OctoXBPS graphical frontend and the Topgrade meta-updater. The distribution is free of systemd, using the runit init system instead.

AgarimOS is a desktop Linux distribution based on Void. It comes in several popular desktop flavours, including Cinnamon, GNOME, KDE Plasma, LXQt, MATE and Xfce, all with a limited set of applications in their default states. Like its parent, AgarimOS does not use the systemd service manager, relying instead on the runit init scheme. It employs the XBPS package management system, together with a graphical front-end called OctoXBPS. The distribution also includes various optimisations, custom themes and some interesting software selection, such as the WezTerm terminal emulator, the Neofetch system information utility, the hBlock ad blocker, and the aria2 download tool.

CalamaroOS is a Gentoo-based Linux distribution for the desktop, using either KDE Plasma or Xfce desktop environment. It features the Calamares system installer, out-of-the-box support for Flatpak packages, support for BTRFS, XFS and F2FS filesystems, and the systemd software suite for system and service management. The project's goal is to bring the power of Gentoo Linux to an average user by eliminating the complex and time-consuming process associated with the classic Gentoo install method.

Live Raizo is a live Linux distribution based on Debian "Stable". Its purpose is to experiment with system administration on simulated networks and real devices; it contains simulators of networks and systems (GNS3, QEmu, Docker, VPCS) and also Debian virtual machines already integrated into GNS3. Live Raizo also includes tools to interact with real devices, such as minicom, Putty, Wireshark, as well as DHCP, DNS, FTP, TFTP and SSH servers. The distribution uses the Fluxbox window manager and can optionally be installed to a hard drive.
